Bbq Pork Char Siu I’m a big fan of good Pork Char Siu but it is sometimes hard to find. I love going to China Town and picking some up. I really wanted to make this at home and looked at as well as tried a number of different recipes. After some experimenting, I came up with one I really like. I also kicked it up a notch and made Bbq Pork Char Siu using my Webber and a large pile of Kingsford Charcoal.

Maple bacon green beans

Bacon makes everything better right? These maple bacon green beans are no exception. This is one of those recipe’s that you can’t really call a recipe because I don’t have an exact amount of ingredients to use. Everyone likes different levels of sweetness and saltiness. I also haven’t measured exactly how much of each ingredient being used.

So, what is in this dish?

  • Green Beans (about one 12 oz package)
  • Bacon (3-8 slices)
  • Maple Syrup (2-4 tbsp)
  • Brown Sugar (1-2 tbsp)
  • Salt (to taste)

Start out by cutting your bacon into pieces and frying it in a pan. Once it is close to being cooked add in your package of green beans.

Let the green beans cook for about 3-4 minutes and then add in your maple syrup and brown sugar. Turn the heat up to medium-high and continue to cook. Be sure to stir the green beans often to keep from burning.

Once the green beans are done to your liking, take off the heat, toss with a little salt and then eat.

Coleslaw

Whenever I make some kind of pork bbq, I like to have some coleslaw with my meal. Whether it be pulled pork (with or without a bun) or a bacon wrapped fatty. My favorite is to do a dill coleslaw. It’s pretty simple. Just put the cabbage in a big bowl, mix the other ingredients together in a different bowl and pour the sauce over the cabbage.

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (I use an olive oil based mayo)
  • 1/4 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon celery seed
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tbsp dill weed
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 12 oz bag of cabbage mix
