Bbq Beef Rub

I go back and forth with steak. Sometimes I just want a little salt & pepper so I can taste the beef, other times I want to add a little more flavor. That is when this basic beef rub came into existence. Since then it has become my go to for smoked brisket and tri tip. I’ve also put it on some popcorn which turned out pretty good.

I suggest using a coffee grinder to grind the thyme, oregano and rosemary. I keep one clean just for grinding spices. You’ll notice the picture above has some large pieces. Those don’t distribute as well when shaking the rub onto your steak since they are not ground up first.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tbsp chile powder
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • .5 tbsp pepper
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • ½ tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp cinnamon
  • ½ tbsp thyme
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1 tsp rosemary
